Author Notes: A promising elm now available. A cross between U. carpinifolia (smooth) and U. parviflora (lacebark) elms, this exciting medium tree may be blazing a trail for elms in the urban landscape. It has good vigor, tolerates poor soils, grows fast, but does not get big, has small leaves and no seeds, resistant of insect and disease problems, with outstanding long fall color. The Frontier Elm tree could be on everyone’s street tree list.
